Premium Grace Period Extension

Individual situations need to be discussed with the Highmark Customer Service Manager. No automatic premium payment grace period extension has been offered.

Coverage Available to Laid Off Employees

For coverage through 6/1/20, Highmark will waive "actively at work" eligibility requirement for a period up to 90 days from the date of the furlough or reduction in hours. Employees must currently be on the plan and premiums must be paid with the same level of employer subsidies previously offered.One employee must remain full time / active.

NOTE: If the employer cannot continue subsidy to furloughed employees, they may elect COBRA or consider the Individual Exchange for continued access to coverage.

Waiver of Waiting Period if Employees Return from Layoff

For rehired employees, laid off prior to June 30, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and rehired prior to June 30, 2021, Highmark will waive the waiting period requirement.

Employees Who Have a Reduction in Hours
